World Bank

The World Bank is a financial institution that provides financial assistance to developing countries. It differs from the IMF in that it provides longer term loans, focused more on development than on overcoming financial crises.

History

It was founded after World War II to help with the reconstruction of Europe. After this task was completed it moved onto the more general purpose task of aiding in the development of the newly decolonized world.
